One of the risk factors for esophageal adenocarcinoma is achalasia, an esophageal motility disorder that is typically treated surgically through laparotomy or laparoscopic surgery. The risk factors of gastric cardia cancer are also similar to esophageal adenocarcinoma due to the anatomical location of the gastric cardia close to the esophagus. There is currently no clinical evidence that achalching has a correlation with gastric cardia cancer. ⋯ Postoperative patients with achalasia often have symptoms of reflux, which may be one of the factors for the development of pancreatic cancer in this patient, thus requiring clinicians to pay more attention to the use of antireflux procedures in the surgical treatment of pancreatic achalasia. And the choice of which modality to perform surgery in patients with previous surgical history is also one of the points to be discussed.

Urinary tract infections (UTI) are common in patients with stroke. The colonization of multidrug-resistant organisms (MDR) has recently become a global issue, and infection with MDR is associated with a poorer prognosis. This study aimed to investigate the uropathogenic distribution in stroke patients according to MDR colonization and investigate the infection risk and antibiotic resistance of each uropathogen to help determine initial antibiotic treatment. ⋯ There was no statistical difference in antibiotic resistance according to MDR colonization in E coli, but for Enterococcus spp., Group VRE and CRE showed significantly more resistance to numerous antibiotics than Group Negative. MDR colonization increases the risk of UTI and is associated with greater antibiotic resistance. For appropriate administration of antibiotics in UTI, continuous monitoring of the latest trends in uropathogenic distribution is required, and clinicians should pay more attention to the use of initial empirical antibiotics in patients with MDR colonization.

Bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) is often seen as a pulmonary complication of extreme preterm birth, resulting in persistent respiratory symptoms and diminished lung function. Unfortunately, current diagnostic and treatment options for this condition are insufficient. Hence, this study aimed to identify potential biomarkers in the peripheral blood of neonates affected by BPD. ⋯ Moreover, we predicted flunisolide, budesonide, and beclomethasone as potential anti-BPD drugs. The genes CYYR1, GALNT14, and OLAH have the potential to serve as diagnostic biomarkers for BPD. This may prove beneficial in clinical diagnosis and prevention of BPD.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of percutaneous pedicle screw fixation combined with bone cement augmentation in the management of stage III Kümmell disease without nerve deformity. A retrospective analysis was conducted on 17 patients diagnosed with stage III Kümmell disease without nerve deformity, who underwent treatment with percutaneous pedicle screw fixation combined with bone cement augmentation between April 2019 and 2022. Preoperative, postoperative, and final follow-up clinical outcome measures were collected, including Visual Analog Scale scores and Oswestry Disability Index scores. ⋯ All patients underwent successful surgery, resulting in significant reductions in Visual Analog Scale scores, Oswestry Disability Index scores, and Cobb angle postoperatively; meanwhile there was a significant increase in height of the anterior border of the affected vertebral body. No major complications occurred during the follow-up period. In conclusion, percutaneous pedicle screw short-segment fixation combined with bone cement augmentation appears to be an effective surgical option for treating stage III Kümmell disease without nerve deformities.

Ischemic stroke refers to ischemic necrosis or softening of localized brain tissue. Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a painless, noninvasive and green treatment method, which acts on the central nervous system through a pulsed magnetic field to assist in the treatment of central nervous system injury diseases. However, the role of Il1r2 and Tnfrsf12a in this is unknown. ⋯ Il1r2 and Tnfrsf12a were lowly expressed in TMS samples. CTD analysis found that the core gene (Socs3, Irf1 and Il1r2, Ccr1, Tnfrsf12a) and ischemic stroke, atherosclerosis, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, thrombosis, stroke, myocardial ischemia, myocardial infarction, and inflammation. Il1r2 and Tnfrsf12a are highly expressed in ischemic stroke, but lowly expressed in TMS samples.
