Wumei pills (WMP), a classical Chinese herbal formula, have shown efficacy in the treatment of ulcerative colitis (UC) and type 2 diabetes (T2DM). However, the underlying mechanisms by which WMP simultaneously targets these distinct diseases remain unclear. In this study, a network pharmacology approach was employed to unravel the potential molecular mechanisms of WMP in UC and T2DM treatment. ⋯ WMP exerts its therapeutic effects by modulating signaling pathways, including the NF-κB pathway, PI3K-Akt pathway, and p53 pathway. Molecular docking results indicate a strong binding affinity between core compounds and core genes. This study bridges the understanding of 2 diseases using network pharmacology and provides insights into shared therapeutic mechanisms, opening doors for further research in modern Chinese herbal formulations.

Adalimumab induced exacerbation of psoriasis in patients with combined pemphigus: A case report.
Psoriasis is an immune-related disease caused by genetic factors, abnormalities in the immune system and environmental factors, while pemphigus is an autoimmune disease caused by the autoimmune system attacking the skin and mucosal tissues. Herein, we aimed to report a rare case of adalimumab induced exacerbation of psoriasis patients with pemphigus. The rare disease causes considerable challenges for clinical diagnosis and treatment. ⋯ Methylprednisolone combined with cyclosporine may be an option in treating patients with psoriasis patients with pemphigus.

Co-infection of Nocardia and Aspergillus fumigatus in a immunosuppressed patient: Case report.
Nocardia and Aspergillus fumigatus are opportunistic pathogenic fungus that has a major impact on the mortality of rheumatoid arthritis patients. Opportunistic infections in immunocompromised patients present diagnostic challenges. Nocardia and A fumigatus are both easily overlooked because of their rarity, leading to delayed diagnosis and treatment. ⋯ Co-infection is more common in immunosuppressed patients and warrants attention in clinical practice. Early diagnosis and treatment can help patients with Co-infection of Nocardia and A fumigatus achieve better prognosis.

Our objective was to assess the safety and efficacy of 3 tubes with or without covered esophageal stent placement for the management of gastro-mediastinal or gastro-pleural fistula. We retrospectively assessed the clinical data of 31 consecutive patients with gastro-mediastinal or gastro-pleural fistula treated by using a noninvasive treatment from February 2013 to July 2022. Patients received 3 tubes (jejunal feeding tube, gastrointestinal drainage tube and abscess drainage tube) with or without esophageal-covered stent placement. ⋯ The median survival was 30.8 months. The 1-, 3-, 5-year survival rates were 71.1%, 46.1% and 39.5%, respectively. A noninvasive treatment of 3 tubes with or without covered esophageal stent placement is safe and effective for gastro-mediastinal or gastro-pleural fistula after esophagogastrectomy.

The aim of this study was to explore the impact of female body mass index (BMI) on cumulative live birth rates (CLBR) in patients treated with in vitro fertilization (IVF) and embryo transfer. A total of 2377 patients who visited the Reproductive Medical Center, Luoyang Maternal and Child Health Hospital from January 2015 to December 2021. The patients underwent the first IVF cycles. ⋯ In logistic analysis, overweight/obesity was associated with CLBR in young patients (aOR = 0.822, 95% CI: 0.817-0.957, P = .000). However, in the cycles of older patients, the effect of overweight/obesity on the CLBR was not significant (aOR = 0.986, 95% CI: 0.903-1.027, P > .05). Overweight/obesity is a predictor for CLBR in younger patients (<35 years old), but not in advanced age patients undergoing their first IVF/intracytoplasmic sperm injection treatment cycles.
