Meta Analysis
Acupuncture and sleep disorders in Parkinson's disease: A systematic evaluation with meta-analysis.
Parkinson's disease (PD) patients commonly suffer from sleep disorders, significantly impacting their quality of life. Western treatments often entail adverse effects, while acupuncture (ACU) presents a safe, nonaddictive alternative. ⋯ ACU therapy effectively improves nighttime sleep quality in PD patients. A treatment duration extending beyond 6 weeks is highly recommended. Additionally, increasing the frequency of ACU sessions and incorporating electroacupuncture in the treatment regimen may be essential for optimal results.

Previous studies have shown that traditional Chinese medicine decoction (TCMD) could ameliorate the clinical symptoms and laboratory indicators of gouty arthritis (GA) patients. However, few investigations have been conducted on the efficacy and safety of TCMD for GA, the underlying mechanism of TCMD for GA, and the relationship between the TCMD active ingredients and GA targets. ⋯ TCMD could be a satisfactory complementary and alternative therapy for GA. However, it should be verified by further studies. Future research could be conducted from the following active ingredients, targets, and signal pathways, such as wogonin, sitosterol, and sitosterol; AKT1, TNF, IL6, and TP53; and IL-17, HIF-1, and PI3K-AKT signaling pathway.

Review Case Reports
5-aminolevulinic enhanced brain lesions mimic glioblastoma: A case report and literature review.
Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is a highly malignant primary brain tumor for which maximal tumor resection plays an important role in the treatment strategy. 5-aminolevulinic (5-ALA) is a powerful tool in fluorescence-guided surgery for GBM. However, 5-ALA- enhancing lesion can also be observed with different etiologies. ⋯ The 5-aminolevulinic acid fluorescence-guided surgery has demonstrated its maximal extent of resection and safety profile in patients with high-grade glioma. Non-glioma etiologies may also mimic GBM in 5-ALA-guided surgeries. Therefore, patient history taking and consideration of brain images are necessary for the interpretation of 5-ALA-enhanced lesions.

Acute promyelocytic leukaemia (APL) is a rare subtype of acute myelogenous leukaemia. With advances in treatment regimens, namely, introduction of all-trans-retinoicacid, outcomes have drastically improved, its side effects should not be ignored. Mycosis fungoides is one of the side effects of all-trans-retinoicacid treatment, but it may also be a clinical manifestation before disease progression. However, it rarely appears and is easily overlooked. This leads to being easily misled during the treatment process, affecting the treatment plan, and resulting in adverse consequences. Therefore, early identification and judgment can not only provide appropriate treatment options, but also prevent and treat further disease progression. ⋯ Acute promyelocytic leukemia needs to be treated with arsenic trioxide. All-trans-retinoicacid in the treatment of APL must be given attention mycosis fungoides. Early diagnosis can guide accurate treatment, which is of great help in alleviating the pain of patients and improving the cure rate.

Decompressive craniectomy (DC) is a well-established neurosurgical intervention in patients with high intracranial pressure who fail to respond to medical treatment. Data on predictive factors for functional outcomes in patients with DC who have malignant middle cerebral artery (MCA) infarction as opposed to intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) are scarce. Eighty-four patients who underwent DC treatment for ICH and malignant MCA infarction were examined. ⋯ The postsurgical midline shift (MLS) (ICH group) showed the strongest correlation (ρ = 0.434; P = .006), as in the MCA infarction group as well (ρ = 0.46; P = .005). Further analyses using binary logistic regression with postsurgical basal cistern status and ∆ MLS, and it was observed to be statistically significant (odds ratios: 0.067, 95% CI: 0.007, 0.67; P = .021). The initial Glasgow coma scale, postsurgical MLS, basal cistern status, and ∆ are Measurable variables that can be used to predict outcomes in the groups with ICH and MCA infarction.
