A new strategy for the treatment of heavily pretreated metastatic breast cancer: A case report and review of the literature.
Breast cancer is one of the most common type of cancers worldwide and remains a critical health issue. Although there are numerous treatment options for advanced metastatic breast cancer, the results are not satisfactory, particularly for triple-negative breast cancer. New treatment modalities need to be explored. ⋯ To our knowledge, this is the first report of utidelone plus capecitabine successfully treating a patient with heavily pretreated metastatic breast cancer. This combined treatment offers a new option for patients with multi-drug resistant breast cancer.

ReviewAutomated external defibrillators and the link to first responder systems.
Automated external defibrillators are a very effective treatment to convert ventricular fibrillation (VF) in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. The purpose of this paper is to review recent publications related to automated external defibrillators (AEDs). ⋯ The use of public AEDs in OHCA are still low. Systems focusing on engaging volunteers in the cardiac arrest response have shown to be associated with higher AED usage. Dispatching drones equipped with AEDs is promising, but research lacks clinical data. On-site defibrillation is associated with high survival rates but is not available for most cardiac arrests.

Obesity is a complex, multifactorial disease. The incidence of overweight and obesity has doubled worldwide since 1980, and nearly one-third of the world population is now classified as overweight or obese. Obesity rates are increasing in all age groups and for both sexes, regardless of geographic region, race, or socioeconomic status, although they are generally higher in older adults and women. ⋯ Although the drug treatment model of modern medicine has a significant therapeutic effect in the treatment of obesity, its adverse effects are also obvious. Acupuncture combined with Chinese medicine treatment of obesity has prominent advantages in terms of clinical efficacy, and its clinical safety is higher, with fewer adverse reactions. The combination of acupuncture and medicine in the treatment of obesity is worth exploring.

Observational StudyAssociation Between Intraoperative Landiolol Use and In-Hospital Mortality After Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting: A Nationwide Observational Study in Japan.
Ischemic heart disease is a leading cause of death worldwide, and coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is a major treatment. Landiolol is an ultra-short-acting beta-antagonist known to prevent postoperative atrial fibrillation. However, the effectiveness of intraoperative landiolol on mortality remains unknown. This study aimed to evaluate the association between intraoperative landiolol use and the in-hospital mortality in patients undergoing CABG. ⋯ Intraoperative landiolol use was associated with decreased in-hospital mortality in patients undergoing CABG. Further randomized controlled trials are required to confirm these findings.
