The burden of pain in newborn infants has been investigated in numerous studies, but little is known about the appropriateness of the use of pain scales according to the specific type of pain or infant condition. This systematic review aimed to evaluate the reporting of neonatal pain scales in randomized trials. A systematic search up to March 2019 was performed in Embase, PubMed, PsycINFO, CINAHL, Cochrane Library, Scopus, and Luxid. ⋯ Six validated pain scales were used in 90% of all trials, although not always in the correct population or type of pain. Depending on the type of pain and population of infants included in a study, appropriate scales should be selected. The inappropriate use raises serious concerns about research ethics and use of resources.

Case ReportsAcute Scrotal Pain and a Different Use of an Old Imaging Method.
The differential diagnosis of scrotal pain in childhood is a challenge for every primary care physician. We report the case of a 5-year-old boy presenting to the emergency department owing to acute left scrotal pain. Ultrasound screening revealed a Morgagni hydatid in the left testis, which was surgically removed. ⋯ Results of histological examination confirmed radiographic evaluation. No similar use of x-rays has been described in literature before, to the best of our knowledge. A brief discussion also follows about Morgagni hydatid in childhood.

A Comparative Retrospective Study of Patients with Takotsubo Syndrome and Acute Coronary Syndrome.
Takotsubo syndrome (TTS) is a non-ischemic cardiomyopathy characterized by an acute reversible left ventricular dysfunction with typical apical ballooning, usually with subsequent complete spontaneous recovery. TTS shares several features with acute coronary syndrome (ACS), including clinical presentation, ECG changes, and elevated troponin. ⋯ There was no reliable feature that could distinguish TTS from ACS based on clinical presentation. TTS should always be in the differential diagnosis in patients with acute chest pain, especially in elderly women.
