Changes in the frequency and clinical features of acute rheumatic fever in the COVID-19 era: a retrospective analysis from a single center.
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic resulted in significant changes in the frequency of many diseases. In this study, we aimed to investigate the changes in the frequency and clinical features of acute rheumatic fever (ARF) in this period and determine the effect of health measures taken against COVID-19 on this change. ⋯ Our results indicated an important decrease in frequency of ARF, but no change in the clinical features of the disease during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is thought that this is the result of health measures taken for COVID-19. Children with an increased risk of acute rheumatic fever should be encouraged in terms of wearing mask, social distance, and cleaning, especially during the seasons when upper respiratory tract infections are common. Thus, a permanent decrease in the incidence of ARF and its recurrences may be achieved.

The COVID-19 lockdown promotes changes in sleep habits in the Croatian general population.
To investigate the effects of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) lockdown on sleep habits in the Croatian general population. ⋯ The effect of the lockdown on sleep needs to be better understood. Sleep hygiene education could serve a first-line lifestyle intervention for people in lockdown experiencing sleep disruption.

Survival after hospital discharge in patients hospitalized for acute coronavirus disease 2019: data on 2586 patients from a tertiary center registry.
To assess the long-term survival after hospital discharge of patients hospitalized due to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). ⋯ Substantial risk of death persists after hospital admission due to COVID-19. Factors related to an increased risk are older age, higher functional impairment, need for mechanical ventilation during hospital admission, parameters indicating more pronounced inflammation, impaired renal function, and particular comorbidities. Interventions aimed at improving patients' functional capacity may be needed.

Case ReportsImmune-mediated diseases after coronavirus disease 2019 vaccination: rare but important complication.
Since the beginning of mass vaccination against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), vaccine-linked immune-mediated diseases have been increasingly reported. The development of these diseases after COVID-19 vaccination may be attributed to the mechanisms of molecular mimicry and cross-reactivity between the viral spike protein and self-antigens. The most frequent vaccine-linked glomerular disease is immunoglobulin A nephropathy (IgAN). ⋯ The temporal association between vaccination and disease development in the absence of other possible intercurrent inciting events suggests a causal mechanism, although coincidental co-occurrence cannot be excluded. In both cases, immunosuppressive treatment was warranted to stop disease progression and to partially or completely resolve the disease. A timely reaction is needed if new-onset signs of an immune-mediated disease appear after vaccination.
