Rheumatic diseases (RD) are chronic diseases that significantly affect the lives of patients. Assessing health outcomes through a patient-reported outcome measurement information system (PROMIS) is essential for RD management. Moreover, these tend to be less favorable among individuals than among the rest of the population. ⋯ Moreover, RD individuals reported lower physical functioning (β = -5.4; 95% CI = -6.50, -4.24) and social interaction (β = -4.5; 95% CI = -5.73, -3.20). Patients with RD in Saudi Arabia, particularly those with systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis, have significantly greater impairment in physical functioning and social interaction and report higher levels of fatigue and pain. Addressing and ameliorating these negative outcomes is necessary to improve quality of life.

Efficacy and safety of Tuina for chronic nonspecific low back pain: A PRISMA-compliant systematic review and meta-analysis.
Chronic nonspecific low back pain (CNLBP) is a serious medical and social problem resulting in functional decline and decreased work ability. Tuina, a form of manual therapy, has been sparsely used to treat patients with CNLBP. To systematically assess the efficacy and safety of Tuina for patients with CNLBP. ⋯ Tuina might be an effective and safe strategy for treating CNLBP in terms of pain and physical function, but not for QoL. The study results should be interpreted with caution for their low-level evidence. More multicenter, large-scale RCTs with a rigorous design are required to further confirm our findings.

Metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) is a term that was proposed in 2020 by a group of international experts. However, the impact of MAFLD on complications after hepatectomy in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma is not clear. The aim of this study is to explore the influence of MAFLD on the complications after hepatectomy in patients with hepatitis B virus-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HBV-HCC). ⋯ However, univariate and multivariate analysis revealed that lean-MAFLD was an independent risk factor for post hepatectomy complications in patients with HBV-HCC (odds ratio 2.245; 95% confidence interval 1.243-5.362, P = .028). Similar results were found in the analysis of predictors for infectious and major complications after hepatectomy in patients with HBV-HCC. MAFLD commonly coexists with HBV-HCC and is not directly associated with complications after hepatectomy, but lean-MAFLD is an independent risk factor for post hepatectomy complications in patients with HBV-HCC.

The effects of Bacillus coagulans MTCC 5856 on functional gas and bloating in adults: A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study.
Gut microbiome dysbiosis is a major cause of abdominal gas, bloating, and distension. Bacillus coagulans MTCC 5856 (LactoSpore) is a spore-forming, thermostable, lactic acid-producing probiotic that has numerous health benefits. We evaluated the effect of Lacto Spore on improving the clinical symptoms of functional gas and bloating in healthy adults. ⋯ Bacillus coagulans MTCC 5856 may be a potential supplement to reduce gastrointestinal symptoms in adults with abdominal gas and distension.

Effect on music therapy on quality of recovery and postoperative pain after gynecological laparoscopy.
Music therapy is safe, inexpensive, simple, and has relaxing properties for mental and physical capacities, as well as few side effects. Moreover, it improves patient satisfaction and reduces postoperative pain. Thus, we intended to evaluate the effect of music intervention on the quality of comprehensive recovery using quality of recovery 40 (QoR-40) survey in patients undergoing gynecological laparoscopic surgery. ⋯ Intraoperative music intervention enhanced postoperative functional recovery and reduced postoperative pain in patients who underwent laparoscopic gynecological surgery.
