People living with chronic pain may use wearable health technology (WHT) in conjunction with an expert-directed pain management program for up to 1 year. WHT use may be associated with improvements in key patient outcomes. ⋯ Patients who used WHT as part of their pain management program demonstrated a willingness to do so for extended periods of time despite living with chronic pain and other comorbidities. Data trends suggest that WHT use may positively impact depression and prescribed medication. Additional research is warranted to investigate the potential of WHT to improve the negative consequences of chronic pain.

Interviews are critical to the neurosurgery resident application process. The COVID-19 pandemic forced residency interview activities are conducted virtually. To maintain a degree of control during a period of uncertainty, our department implemented a standardized survey for interviewers to evaluate the noncognitive attributes and program compatibility of applicants. ⋯ ICC analysis demonstrated good (ICC 0.75-0.90) or excellent (ICC > 0.90) reliability for all questions and overall score. The standardized interviewer survey was a feasible and reliable method for evaluating noncognitive attributes during neurosurgery residency interviews. There was no perceptible evidence of sex bias in our single-program experience.

While it is now widely established acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common and important complication of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) disease, there is marked variability in its reported incidence and outcomes. This narrative review provides a mid-2022 summary of the latest epidemiological evidence on AKI in COVID-19. ⋯ This review summarises the epidemiology, risk factors, outcomes and treatment of COVID-19-associated AKI across the global pandemic. In particular the long-term impact of COVID-19 disease on kidney health is uncertain and requires further characterisation.

Recently, interest and advances in artificial intelligence (AI) including deep learning for medical images have surged. As imaging plays a major role in the assessment of pulmonary diseases, various AI algorithms have been developed for chest imaging. Some of these have been approved by governments and are now commercially available in the marketplace. ⋯ While AI is a powerful technology that can be applied to medical imaging and is expected to improve our current clinical practice, some obstacles must be addressed for the successful implementation of AI in workflows. Understanding and becoming familiar with the current status and potential clinical applications of AI in chest imaging, as well as remaining challenges, would be essential for radiologists and clinicians in the era of AI. This review introduces the potential clinical applications of AI in chest imaging and also discusses the challenges for the implementation of AI in daily clinical practice and future directions in chest imaging.

Osteoarthritis pain affects the lives of a large number of people around the world. Understanding other people's experience is integral to effective care, and qualitative research can have an important part to play in education and good clinical practice. We aimed to systematically search for, identify, and synthesise qualitative research exploring the experience of living with osteoarthritis to incorporate this knowledge into an educational resource. ⋯ Our findings highlight the profound impact that osteoarthritis can have on people's lives and the struggle to hold onto a sense of self. They indicate that recognising these losses, and taking osteoarthritis seriously, is an integral part of effective health care. This finding may be transferable beyond this condition.
