'Desire for more analgesic treatment': pain and patient-reported outcome after paediatric tonsillectomy and appendectomy.
Insufficiently treated pain after paediatric appendectomy and tonsillectomy is frequent. We aimed to identify variables associated with poor patient-reported outcomes. ⋯ Preventive administration of at least two classes of non-opioid analgesics is a simple strategy and may improve patient-reported outcomes.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyDexamethasone as a ropivacaine adjuvant to pre-emptive incision-site infiltration analgesia in pediatric craniotomy patients: a prospective, multicenter, randomized, double-blind, controlled trial.
Dexamethasone added to incision-site infiltration has been routinely used to reduce pain after tonsillectomy in children. However, this has not been studied in pediatric craniotomy patients yet. We hypothesized that incision-site infiltration with a combination of ropivacaine and dexamethasone might provide superior analgesia to ropivacaine alone in pediatric craniotomy patients. ⋯ The addition of dexamethasone to ropivacaine for preoperative incision-site infiltration has better postoperative analgesic effect than ropivacaine alone in pediatric craniotomy patients.

Knowledge and attitude of pain management among Italian nurses in intensive care unit: a multicentric descriptive study.
The main objective of the study was to document the current knowledge and attitudes towards pain management among Italian nurses working in intensive care unit (ICU). ⋯ This study has shown that Italian ICU nurses have good level of pain management knowledge and attitudes of pain medication. It is recommended to consider pain management in the context of continuing professional development.

The effects of a morphine shortage on emergency department pain control.
In 2018, due to a national morphine shortage, our two study emergency departments (EDs) were unable to administer intravenous (IV) morphine for over six months. We evaluated the effects of this shortage on analgesia and patient disposition. ⋯ Removing IV morphine in the ED, without a compensatory rise in alternative opioids, does not appear to significantly impact analgesia or disposition. These data favor a more limited opioid use strategy in the ED.

Multicenter StudyClinical and technical factors associated with knee radiofrequency ablation outcomes: a multicenter analysis.
There has been a surge in interest in radiofrequency ablation (RFA) of the genicular nerves over the past decade, with wide variability in selection, technique and outcomes. The aim of this study is to determine factors associated with treatment outcome. ⋯ We identified multiple clinical and technical factors associated with treatment outcome, which should be considered when selecting patients for RFA treatment and in the design of clinical trials.
