Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation in major depression: A three-arm parallel-group dose-response randomized pilot trial.
The optimal dose (number of pulses per session) of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), using the H-coil, in major depressive disorder (MDD) has not previously been reported. ⋯ It is feasible to conduct a definitive trial investigating whether a higher number of magnetic pulses per treatment session gives a more rapid antidepressive response.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has had a significant impact on our lives and plays many roles in various fields. By analyzing the past 30 years of AI trends in the field of nephrology, using a bibliography, we wanted to know the areas of interest and future direction of AI in research related to the kidney. ⋯ After 2010, the interest in AI and its achievements increased enormously. To date, AIs have been investigated using data that are relatively easy to access, for example, radiologic images and laboratory results in the fields of tumor and acute kidney injury. In the near future, a deeper and wider range of information, such as genetic and personalized database, will help enrich nephrology fields with AI technology.

Randomized clinical trial of preoperative skin preparation with 2% chlorhexidine versus conventional hair shaving in percutaneous coronary intervention.
Preoperative skin preparation is associated with surgical site infection (SSI). Traditional preoperative shaving fails to reduce the risk of SSI. The efficacy of 2% chlorhexidine for preoperative skin preparation in percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is sketchy. The aim of this trial was to evaluate whether preoperative skin preparation performed with chlorhexidine was not inferior to a conventional hair removal method. ⋯ In PCI, preoperative skin preparation with 2% chlorhexidine was not inferior to conventional hair shaving in terms of the wound infection rate and SSI rate.

Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is a debilitating chronic disease of unknown etiology that is recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United States Center for Disease Control and Prevention (US CDC) as a disorder of the brain. CFS affects 1% (17-24 million people) of the world's population and is a major and costly public health problem. In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), acupuncture can achieve a certain effect in the treatment of chronic fatigue syndrome, but evidence-based medicine is controversial. This protocol aims to multi-evaluate the literature quality and evidence quality of the current systematic reviews (SRs)/meta-analyses (MAs) of acupuncture treatment for chronic fatigue syndrome, and provide intuitive and reliable evidence synthesis and decision-making basis for clinical treatment. ⋯ INPLASY 202060052.

Enlargemento of the medial rectus is the most predominant factor of compressive optic neuropathy (CON) in Graves' disease. This case report indicates that CON could develop only from the hypertrophic superior levator and superior rectus (SL/SR) muscle in a patient with poorly controlled Graves' disease, and described the possible risk of FT3-thyrotoxicosis with a prominent goiter to develop the current rare case with a review of the literature. ⋯ Enlargement of the SL/SR muscle complex may independently induce the CON. We believe that strict attention should be paid to patients with triiodothyronine thyrotoxicosis with progressive eyelid retraction and hypertropia.
