The appropriate number of preoperative core needle biopsy specimens for analysis in breast cancer.
Ultrasound (US)-guided core needle biopsy (CNB) has been recognized as a crucial diagnostic tool for breast cancer. However, there is a lack of guidance for hospitals that are not equipped with adjunctive US. The aim of this study was to assess the sensitivity, specificity, and experience of freehanded CNB in the outpatient department, and to determine the minimum number of tissue strips required to obtain concordance for estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR), human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 (HER2), and tumor grade with the excised specimen. ⋯ The reliability of taking 2 tissue strips was similar to that of taking six tissue strips in distinguishing malignancy from benignancy, and determining the pathological type without the aid of US. Four tissue strips obtained by CNB showed good accuracy comparable to those obtained by surgical specimens in assessing ER, PR, and HER2 status and tumor grade. Two tissue strips obtained by CNB showed good accuracy in differentiating malignancy from benignancy, while at least 4 strips are recommended to obtain overall conformity of pathological biomarkers.

Assessment of lesion-associated myocardial ischemia based on fusion coronary CT imaging - the FUSE-HEART study: A protocol for non-randomized clinical trial.
Multimodality assessment of coronary artery lesions has demonstrated superior effectiveness compared to the conventional approach, for assessing both anatomical and functional significance of a coronary stenosis. Multiple imaging modalities can be integrated into a fusion imaging tool to better assess myocardial ischemia. ⋯ In conclusion, FUSE-HEART will be a study based on modern imaging tools that will investigate the impact of a coronary artery stenosis on myocardial function and viability, using advanced fusion imaging technics derived from CCTA, sighting to validate plaque composition and morphology, together with inflammatory biomarkers, as predictors to myocardial viability.

Comparison of single and double dorsal wires in the extension block technique for mallet fractures: Retrospective observational study.
Mallet fractures are avulsion fractures of the extensor tendon from the distal phalanx base and often occur due to sudden flexion or axial loading. In this study, we aimed to compare the clinical and radiological results of patients treated with single and double dorsal wires from the dorsal in the extension block method. Patients to whom a single wire from dorsal was applied were assigned to Group 1 (n: 22), and those to whom double wires were applied were assigned to Group 2 (n: 23). ⋯ We did not observe nail deformity, skin necrosis, infection, or fingertip sensitivity. We found similar functional and clinical results between the groups. We recommend using single dorsal wire, as using double dorsal wires requires extra operation time, effort, and fluoroscopy.

A comparative study of functioning and non-functioning pituitary adenomas.
Pituitary tumors commonly cause visual impairment and the degree of impairment can depend on the size, location, and type of the tumor. However, no studies have been made regarding the differences caused by functioning pituitary adenoma (FPA) and non-functioning pituitary adenoma (NFPA). We aimed to investigate the relationship between clinical characteristics and visual impairment in patients with FPA and NFPA. ⋯ The tumor size was positively correlated with the mean deviation and negatively correlated with the mean sensitivity in both groups. There was a longer delay between the onset of signs and symptoms and treatment in the FPA group than in the NFPA group. Future studies should focus on visual field defects caused by FPA and NFPA.
