This study aimed to investigate the association between mean platelet volume (MPV) and metabolic syndrome (MetS) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Data for 1240 patients with T2DM admitted to the Department of Endocrinology at the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University between January 1, 2017 and June 1, 2020 were collected retrospectively via electronic medical records, including demographic information, complete blood count, lipid profile, and glucose metabolism indexes. MetS was defined according to the Chinese Diabetes Society. ⋯ The odds ratio for MetS in the highest tertile, compared with the lowest MPV tertile, was 1.724 (95% confidence interval 1.199-2.479, P for trend = .003) after multiple adjustment. In stratified analyses, the positive correlation of MPV with MetS was significant only in patients who were older, male, or overweight, or who had poor glycemic control. In conclusion, high MPV was positively associated with the presence of MetS in patients with T2DM, particularly older, male, or overweight patients, or those with poor glycemic control.

Epithelioid hemangioendothelioma (EHE) is a rare low-to-intermediate grade malignant vascular neoplasm. We report a primary splenic EHE with diffused metastasis who underwent 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (FDG PET/CT). Our case emphasizes that EHE should be considered a differential diagnose of 18F-FDG-avid splenic malignancies. ⋯ Primary splenic EHE is extremely rare, especially with diffuse systemic metastasis. Our report suggested that EHE should be considered a differential diagnosis of 18F-FDG-avid splenic malignancies. Furthermore, 18F-FDG PET/CT plays critical role in staging and accessing disease extent of EHE.

Ectopic insulinoma diagnosed by 68Ga-Exendin-4 PET/CT: A case report and review of literature.
Ectopic insulinomas are extremely rare and challenging to diagnose for clinicians. Precise preoperative localization is essential to successful treatment. ⋯ This case shows that 68Gallium-exendin-4 PET/CT is useful for precise localization and thereby successful treatment of insulinoma, especially for occult insulinomas and those derived from an ectopic pancreas.

Ovarian sertoli-leydig cell tumor (OSLCT) is extremely rare. We reported a OSLCT case in whom postmenopausal vaginal bleeding was the first symptom. ⋯ OSLCT can show different endocrine abnormalities, which are related to the various types of tumor tissues. Missed diagnosis and misdiagnosis are likely to occur in the patients who only have elevated serum testosterone. For the menopausal women with elevated serum testosterone, ovarian tumor shoule be highly suspected after excluding adrenal gland-related diseases.

Orogenital ulcers can be observed in various conditions, such as Behcet disease, infection and also paraneoplastic pemphigus (PNP). Castleman disease (CD), which is a rare cause of paraneoplastic pemphigus represents a heterogenous lymphoproliferative disorder of unknown etiology. Paraneoplastic pemphigus associated with CD in pregnancy is rare and has not been reported yet. ⋯ Written informed consent was obtained from the patient for publication of this case report and accompanying images. Ethical approval of this study was granted by the Ethics Committee of West China Hospital of Sichuan University. (Ethics Reference No: 2021143).
