Predicting the Need for Vasopressors in the Intensive Care Unit Using an Attention Based Deep Learning Model.
Previous models on prediction of shock mostly focused on septic shock and often required laboratory results in their models. The purpose of this study was to use deep learning approaches to predict vasopressor requirement for critically ill patients within 24 h of intensive care unit (ICU) admission using only vital signs. ⋯ We used Bi-LSTM to develop a model to predict the need for vasopressor for critically ill patients for the first 24 h of ICU admission. With attention mechanism, respiratory rate, mean arterial pressure, and heart rate were identified as key sequential determinants of vasopressor requirements.

Chest CT severity score and radiological patterns as predictors of disease severity, ICU admission, and viral positivity in COVID-19 patients.
Chest computed tomography (CT) is a useful tool for the diagnosis of coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19), although its exact value for predicting critical illness remains unclear. This study evaluated the efficacy of chest CT to predict disease progression, pulmonary complications, and viral positivity duration. ⋯ Chest CT severity score positively correlates with markers of COVID-19 severity and presents promising efficacy in predicting critical illness. It is suggested that ground-glass opacities are linked to prolonged viral positivity. Further studies should confirm the efficacy of the severity score and elucidate the long-term pulmonary effects of COVID-19.

Early predictors of mortality for moderate to severely ill patients with Covid-19.
Determining the factors affecting the mortality and clinical conditions of the patients with Covid-19 are indispensable needs in developing patient treatment algorithms. We aimed to determine the parameters that can predict the mortality of moderate to severely ill patients with laboratory confirmed Covid-19. ⋯ Dyspnea, the presence of any comorbid disease, elevated CRP levels, and low pulse O 2 saturation levels predict mortality in moderate to severely ill Covid-19 patients.

Observational StudyUse of Nutrition Risk in Critically Ill (NUTRIC) Scoring System for Nutrition Risk Assessment and Prognosis Prediction in Critically Ill Neurological Patients: A Prospective Observational Study.
Critically ill patients who are hospitalized in a neurological intensive care unit (NICU) are largely susceptible to nutrition risk. However, only a limited number of studies have investigated the applicable assessment tool in NICUs. ⋯ The mNUTRIC scoring system is not only a useful tool for nutrition risk assessment but also, and more importantly, it is independently related to the risk of 28-day mortality in NICU patients. Therefore, mNUTRIC scoring is an appropriate tool for nutrition risk assessment and prognosis prediction of NICU patients.
