AbstractDomestic animals can be complementary to experimental mice for studying certain aspects of immunology. For example, they can offer surgical access to the physiology of lymphoid organs in vivo, in utero immunisation for studies of immune system ontogeny, and the pathogenesis of infections in their natural target species.
