AbstractPure red cell aplasia (PRCA) is a rare disease characterised by anaemia and low reticulocyte count, caused by absence of erythropoiesis in the bone marrow. This report describes a case of a ring-calcified thymoma that led to the development of PRCA. Moreover, we provide an overview on the classification of thymoma and the pathophysiology and treatment of PRCA.
