    AbstractThe widespread increase in adult cardiac surgery over the last decade has meant that many more junior anaesthetists have become involved in the management of anaesthesia for cardiac surgery before they have taken the final part of the FRCA examination. Although cardiac anaesthesia is still a specialized area, FRCA candidates are expected to have a working knowledge of the principles involved.
