    AbstractGeneral dentists and specialists likely to treat TMD were surveyed to gain information on their understanding of TMD causes, diagnosis and treatment. While the role of psychophysiologic factors in the etiology of TMD has been widely acknowledged in the practicing community, there is still a high level of controversy about the pathophysiologic aspects of TMD and appropriate diagnoses and treatment.
