AbstractTeamwork is a critical component of a patient safety culture, and highly functioning teams make fewer errors. The purpose of this study was to determine if a customized TeamSTEPPS(©) training initiative would result in improved attitudes toward teamwork among nursing staff on an inpatient hospital unit. Analysis revealed significant increases in total scores as well as statistical significance on all 5 components of teamwork including team structure, leadership, situation monitoring, mutual support, and communication. Data support that TeamSTEPPS training can be useful to promote improved attitudes toward teamwork.
