ImplicationsWe investigated the effects of morphine on postoperative pain in patients undergoing intraocular surgery using a new indwelling catheter. Although morphine produced central analgesic effects, there was no evidence for the involvement of peripheral opioid receptors in the modulation of ocular pain.
