    AbstractThe number of patients with implantable cardiac devices for the treatment of cardiac dysrhythmia is steadily climbing. Due to the increase in indications for implantation and the range of functions, an end to this development is not yet in sight. In order to provide safety in the everyday handling of these systems it is necessary to pay attention to various aspects prior to, during and after surgery or anesthesia.
