    AbstractThe review provides present information on the pathogenesis of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), the relationship of endogenous and exogenous factors with the development of IBS-symptoms, questions of diet therapy are discussed, diets traditionally prescribed in IBS treatment and diets, such as FODMAP and gluten-free diet, which are the most promising and have a positive effect on the symptoms of IBS.
