    AbstractThis article reports on a patient who needed intensive care treatment because of multiple trauma. The patient had no preexisting liver disease but developed secondary sclerosing cholangitis and finally died. The etiology, diagnosis and therapeutic options of this clinical picture are discussed and a review of the literature is presented.
