    AbstractThe duration and intensity of the fighting, the soldiers' difficult daily living conditions and the high number of men involved in the First World War resulted in the appearance of specific mental disorders for some soldiers. At first considered to be faking their symptoms, they were later able to be diagnosed and treated thanks to psychiatrists' interest in the condition.
