AbstractThe role of lipids in stroke has been a traditionally debated subject. Many studies have recently demonstrated that reduction of cholesterol levels is associated to a lower stroke incidence. At present, statins play an essential role in both primary as well as secondary stroke prevention. More knowledge on the use of statins in stroke in order to be able to apply it in the daily clinical practice is needed.
