Connie is a licensed registered nurse in 10 states and has earned advanced certifications in aesthetic injectables, laser resurfacing, skin care, sclerotherapy, and perioperative nursing over the course of 27 years in aesthetic medicine. Connie has worked as an expert alongside the ASPSN taskforce in creating the first Certified Aesthetic Nurse Specialist (CANS) examination.

AbstractCompassion fatigue is emotional, physical, and spiritual exhaustion from witnessing and absorbing the problems of others. Aesthetic providers are prone to becoming victims of compassion fatigue because of the stress of meeting the often overwhelming needs of patients. This article discusses what is known about compassion fatigue, what differentiates it from burnout, and how to recognize and combat it.
