AbstractPediatric surgical patients can present with a number of challenging common respiratory problems. This article reviews potential perioperative implications and anesthetic management of asthma, upper respiratory tract infections, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, and the effects of passive environmental smoke on children presenting for surgery.
