AbstractHypothermia is a preventable disorder that is being seen with increasing frequency in the United States. Awareness of the process decreases the likelihood of development and also the possibility that its presence will go undetected. Severe hypothermia is a medical emergency, but the patient often recovers fully with careful, aggressive treatment that includes active core rewarming when necessary.
