AbstractIn the UK, three patients die every day waiting for an organ transplant. Despite there being 18.7 million donors currently registered in the UK, donation rates remain low. This review discusses the legal, ethical and social aspects of organ donation in the UK, and looks at some controversial solutions adopted in other countries.
