AbstractThis case study describes the causes of respiratory failure, modes of ventilation, durable power of attorney, dyspnea, sedation, and chemical paralysis. Such issues as nursing interventions to care for ventilated patients, weaning from mechanical ventilation, ethical principles, and terminal weaning are also explored.
