AbstractMedical assistance to procreation in a couple with one of the parents having viral hepatitis raises the issue of the transmission of infection to the baby and of possible contaminations of gametes from virus-free parents in the laboratory. Today, the main problems are linked to hepatitis B and C viruses, which induce chronic disease transmissible to the baby and can be transmitted through laboratory contaminations.
