AbstractNeurorehabilitation to alleviate permanent disabilities after stroke is in Germany organised within the so called neurological phase model. This article provides an overview on its organisation and content as well as the restrictions imposed by social law. As an example for therapies, evidence-based motor rehabilitation strategies are presented and linked to their neurophysiological principles. Additionally, the current recommendations for the assessment of fitness to drive are illustrated.Thieme. All rights reserved.
