    AbstractThe paper describes the ecological and hygienic significance of the physical factors of the urban dwelling environment: the macroclimate of a residential area, the microclimate within the residential and public buildings, the ionic ozone regimen of premises, an electromagnetic load on the population, the problems associated with noise and light exposure. It also gives an integrated assessment of the current air-conditioning systems, household electric appliances, and building engineering systems. A system of measures is proposed to optimize the quality of the urban dwelling environment.
