AbstractQualitative and quantitative analyses of the environment and human health during 5 years before and after the Chernobyl accident (1986) provided an original scheme and methods for hygienic assessment of the negative influence of environmental pollution on health. They were tested in the Kiev Region. The accident was found to essentially complicated the environmental and sanitary situation in the region and to negatively affect human health.
