    AbstractAnesthesiology will evolve, expand, and thrive in the early 21st century. Exciting new capabilities, especially those associated with emerging applications developed by pharmacogenomic research, will provide anesthesiologists with the tools to increase the safety of Minnesotans, reduce pain associated with surgery and other procedures, and improve daily living for those with chronic pain disorders.
