AbstractCerebral arteriovenous malformations (AVM) infrequently complicate pregnancy. The epidemiology and various treatment options of AVM complicating pregnancy are outlined. Although the medical treatment of the pregnant patient with an AVM is similar to that of nonpregnant patients, there are specific conditions that are relevant to these patients. Due to its rarity, no specific recommendations exist for the management of the pregnant AVM-patients. We propose some guidelines for the evaluation and treatment of pregnant patients with AVM.
