AbstractCerebral aneurysms secondary to cerebral vasculitis related to systemic lupus erythematosus are rare. We report a 31-year-old woman who presented with a lupus flare associated with inaugural generalized seizures. Computed tomography angiography showed subarachnoid hemorrhage by rupture of a cerebellar artery fusiform aneurysm. Later, despite the initiation of corticosteroids and cyclophosphamide, she presented a second cerebral hemorrhage due to the rupture of a new aneurysm in lenticulostriates arteries. The outcome was fatal. We discuss the frequency and management of this severe complication of systemic lupus erythematosus.Copyright © 2011 Société nationale française de médecine interne (SNFMI).
