AbstractIrreducible open dislocation of the thumb interphalangeal joint is a rare injury with several factors responsible for blocking reduction. We describe a case of a 32-year-old man who, on surgical exploration, was found to have an irreducible thumb dislocation due to flexor pollicis longus tendon, ruptured volar plate, and the digital nerve interposed in the interphalangeal joint.Copyright 2010 American Society for Surgery of the Hand.
