The above article 1, published online on 4 November 2002 in Wiley Online Library (wileyonlinelibrary.com), has been retracted by agreement between the authors, the journal Editor-in-Chief, A. Klein and John Wiley and Sons Ltd. The retraction has been agreed due to the lead author's declaration that official permission from the Ethical Committee of the Faculty of Medicine, Tokyo Medical and Dental University was not sought and therefore was not granted for this study.
