AbstractMammalian meat allergy is an allergic reaction mediated by IgE antibodies directed against the mammalian oligosaccharide epitope galactose-α-1,3-galactose. Clinically, it is characterized by a range of symptoms including urticaria, angioedema, gastroenteritis, and anaphylaxis hours following ingestion of red meat. It is an emergent allergy in tick endemic areas across the world. As a recently described disease with a cutaneous presentation, dermatologists should be familiar with this entity and recognize it as a differential diagnosis for urticarial and anaphylaxis reactions.© 2018 The International Society of Dermatology.
