AbstractCryptococcus neoformans is an opportunistic pathogen that occasionally causes indolent disease in the immunocompetent. Cryptococcal arthritis is especially rare, and diagnosis is typically delayed. Fungal arthritis should be considered in cases of chronic, indolent joint inflammation. To our knowledge, this report documents the first use of fluconazole for treatment of cryptococcal infection confined to a joint.
