AbstractSome cases of pulmonary embolism are complicated by cardiac arrest. We report such a case in which treatment included thrombolysis during cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Complete recovery was achieved. This supports the fact that--as stated in the European Resuscitation Council Guidelines for Resuscitation 2005--treatment with a thrombolytic agent should be considered when cardiac arrest is considered to be caused by pulmonary embolism.
