AbstractMichael Lazarevich Gershanovich was born 90 years ago. He has made a significant contribution to foundation and development of chemotherapy for malignant tumors. Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal "Problems in Oncology" ("Voprosy Onkologii), member of the World Club of Petersburgians, a retired lieutenant-colonel Michael Lazarevich, until his last day (16.12.2013), was the head of the Department of Medical Oncology of the N.N.Petrov Research Institute of Oncology, St. Petersburg.
