AbstractThe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has changed conventional patterns of medical practice across all health disciplines, including oral and maxillofacial surgery. The use of telemedicine has rapidly expanded to uphold safety strategies of physical distancing and disease transmission reduction while maintaining uninterrupted care of patients. To date, there are no specific guidelines to optimize telemedicine encounters in oral and maxillofacial surgery. The goal of this article is to provide best practices for both oral and maxillofacial surgeons and their patients to effectively use telemedicine for the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.Published by Elsevier Inc.
