AbstractOur knowledge of the pharmacogenetics of warfarin and clopidogrel continues to expand as we learn more about the individual genetic variations that contribute to the drugs' efficacy and toxicity. We aim to review the recent developments in the field and discuss the clinical implications for the treatment of ischemic stroke patients. Despite recent advances, there is still insufficient data to suggest that routine genetic testing improves outcomes in patients treated with warfarin or clopidogrel for prevention of stroke.
