AbstractA 74-year-old woman went to the gastroenterologist because of an altered defaecation pattern. Colonoscopy could not be completed due to sigmoid angulation. A CT-scan of the colon showed that the colon was located in the left side of the abdomen, as a result of embryonic non-rotation of the intestine. In adults this is generally asymptomatic. Non-specific abdominal complaints or volvulus seldom occur. Surgical intervention is rarely necessary.
