AbstractScurvy, lack of vitamin C, is a rare disease and is often called seafarers' disease. This case story describes a 36 year-old female patient with scurvy after a gastric bypass operation. Scurvy led to severed bullae on the skin, haemorrhagia and loose skin. After intensive care treatment and a minor split skin graft the patient was discharged from the university hospital to a local hospital for further mobilization. Three months later the patient died due to sepsis.
