AbstractInfectious diseases ranging from hepatitis to tuberculosis can be transmitted or contracted by physicians, nurses, or laboratory personnel during the performance of their ordinary patient care activities. But by acquiring a basic knowledge of how infections are transmitted, complying with infection-control guidelines, taking necessary precautions for patient isolation, and receiving proper immunization, you can protect your patients, hospital staff members, and yourself from unnecessary risk.
