Stages of the development of minimally invasive cardiac surgery are reviewed in the article. Features of mitral valve surgery through right-sided mini-thoracotomy are discussed. Surgical outcomes of these procedures are reported considering data of various cardiac surgery centers. Moreover, the authors determined indications and limitations of this technique.
