AbstractThis paper aims to provide an overview of islet cell transplantation in children, with specific attention to pediatric total pancreatectomy with islet autotransplantation (TPIAT). We will summarize the definition and causes of chronic pancreatitis in children, the TPIAT procedure and potential complications, the process of islet cell isolation and autotransplantation, and long-term results after TPIAT.
