AbstractAs the Providence Health System is phasing in its Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOE) system at the Providence Portland Medical Center, we conducted a study to demonstrate the effects of CPOE on medication turn-around time. Retrospectively, we tracked and compared medication orders that were placed via the existing paper-based system and the CPOE system. The results of this study coincide with, and confirm, previous research that has been performed at large academic medical centers.
